  2. I’ve often read that, contrary to what we believe, people aren’t rational creatures. Most often, we make decisions based on emotion or impulse, then rationalize that decision after the fact.

    That’s kinda how some forms of hypnotism works. The hypnotist who wants to convince you of something just has to trigger the right emotional reaction, then your mind rationalizes it as if you came up with the idea yourself. Then you’re more trusting of the idea since you believe it’s your own and not someone else’s influence.
